Costume Gallery designs, manufactures and distributes dance costumes. We are located in Delanco, NJ and have been in business for over 50 years. We are focused on creating costumes that bring smiles to our dancers' faces.

Summary of Position:

The Production Planning Coordinator has primary responsibility to plan and ensure the execution of timely production for both the Costume Gallery and Art Stone brands to meet the sales plans and delivery requirements of the company.  This requires long range planning while maintaining efficient management of current fulfillment needs.   This position works closely with the Sr. Manager of Planning, Procurement and Production to understand factory capabilities and capacity and place styles appropriately. This is a full-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify finished goods needs to meet sales & fulfillment goals and execute strategies to meet identified needs. Manage tactical problem solving related to orders.
  • Collaborate on Cutting & Sewing schedule for internal & external production.
  • Execute a production factory capacity plan & strategy to meet fulfillment goals:
    • Seasonally, monthly & weekly forecasts by vendor
    • Reduce costs, minimize risks, protect supplier continuity and leverage emerging opportunities
    • Vendor commitments & strategic order placement
    • Determine merchandise mix based on complexity of styles
    • Make adjustments to the plan throughout the season based on need
  • As a strategic lever in the supply chain, partner with adjacent key teams, such as Distribution and Product Development to optimize execution of delivery and pre-product planning.
  • Maintain open order and unallocated report to ensure customer needs are met. 
  • Maintain an understanding of production supplier network capabilities and leverage tools both tactically and strategically to optimize.
  • Mitigate risks to profitability and performance to goals by identifying issues and developing action plans collaboratively with teams. Identify and call out risks/opportunities to senior management.
  • Participate and prepare for pre-season planning strategies including historical data and trends on key metrics. Reforecast throughout the season to ensure proper inventory to meet sales plan.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and recommend courses of action to drive profitable sales and meet/exceed sales plans. 
  • Improve visibility, shared decision making and collaborative performance between upstream and downstream teams.


Essential Skills: 

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively internally and with overseas vendors.
  • Understanding of the quality of the make, construction details and production integrity appropriate for Costume Gallery and Art Stone merchandise to exceed customer expectations.
  • Knowledge of garment factories and apparel production processes.
  • Proactive problem solving skills.  Desire to seek improved processes and efficiencies.
  • The ability to interact effectively and credibly with colleagues at all levels both internally and externally. 
  • Proficiency with personal computers in Microsoft Office applications, Google Documents, and A2000 systems required. Training is available. 

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of five years in the apparel industry, specifically in the area of production planning.  
  • A four year college degree in apparel production or related field is preferred. 

Physical Demands:

  • Able to work in a factory envioronment with exposure to dust, feathers, particles, hot and cold temperatures.
